Customs formalities :

  • Customs clearance and customs hours
    Official office hours are: Monday to Friday 08:30-17:30 hrs.
    Import and export clearance after office hours, Saturdays, Sundays or public holydays, subject to request and approval (by Thai Customs) within office hours. Cargo acceptance for exports 24 hours per days, 365 days.

  • Import restrictions
    Live animals, plants and plant material, arms, ammunitions and explosives; human remains; pharmaceutical and chemical products; medicine and vaccines; meat and meat products, tabacco and tobacco products, precious metals and stones, radioactive materials and others.

  • Import prohibition
    Due to special import regulations for many articles as listed above shipper should enquire in advance with consignee or consulate.
  • Taxes and Duties
    Most commodities are subject to import duties (up to 60% of the CIF-value) and Value Added Tax (VAT 7%).

  • VAT Regulations in Thailand
    VAT regulations in Thailand are different from the ones existing in many different countries.
    This Tax must be added to some services (Sea Freight, for instance) which are not taxable in the majority of the other countries, and billed to invoices who are not expected to be so (when located abroad).

  • Export restrictions
    Certain live animals and plants are restricted/prohibited by government.
    Antiques, objects of arts and religious images: Export licence from the Fine Art Department is required.
